Job description

UG INC – Global Executive Search is working with a premier retail group currently looking for a Senior Buyer (Ladies/teen/ Kids wear) to join their team in Kuwait We are ideally looking for someone with strong buying experience in Ladies / teen / Kids wear categories, who will support the company is achieving the category’s strategic and financial objectives.

Job Purpose

-Responsible for providing the necessary assistance to the Manager – Buying in preparing the buying plans, specifying the quantities to be produced from each design and conducting on-site visits to The company and its competitors stores, in addition to collaborating with internal and external stockholders to ensure the availability of required stocks according to the set Calendar Plan.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Policies & Processes

Implement Department Policies and follow the set Processes in order to achieve the Department’s objectives.

Buying Activities

Collaborate with the Design Team on regular basis to ensure that their designs are as per the set plans (Mix of range, open-to-buy (OTB) plans, etc.) specified by the Planning Department.
Follow-up with the Production Team on regular basis to obtain information related to the initial costs of executing the designs proposed by the Design Team.
Assist the Manager – Buying in preparing the buying plans for The company’s different product lines (Ladies, Teens and Kids) and specifying the quantities to be produced from each design, in addition to ensuring the availability of stocks according to the drop & launch dates specified in the Calendar Plan.
Conduct on-site visits to The company’s and its competitors’ stores, collect observations with regards to the trending colors, patterns, shapes, etc. in the market and communicate the same to the Planning & Design Teams to ensure that The company’s products remain competitive within the market.
Obtain and analyze The company’s historical data from the Retail Operations & Allocation Teams including: Sales history, best & worst selling items, etc. to identify customers’ purchasing patterns which will affect the future design and pre-allocation decisions and communicate the same to the Planning Team to forecast customers’ future demands.
Provide recommendations to the Manager – Buying with regards to the execution of certain designs that are trending in the market.
Assist the Planning Team in the preparation of the Calendar and Assortment/ Options Plans through providing the necessary information and updates when required.
Perform ad-hoc and other duties related to the job as assigned by the Direct Manager.


Prepare reports that cover all buying activities such as purchasing analysis reports, produced quantity reports, pre-allocation requirements of stock reports, etc. for submission to the Direct Manager.


Job Requirements

Qualifications and Certifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Retail Management, Business Administration or any related field.

Work Experience

    Minimum of 5 years of experience in the same or related field.
    Good knowledge of conducting analysis on sales data & figures, purchasing processes, Kuwait market, customer preferences, analysis of best sellers, worst sellers, slow sellers, etc.
